2026 Visual Arts and Music Residencies, Pioneer Works
Deadline: August 31, 2025
About the residency: Pioneer Works is now accepting applications for its 2026 Visual Arts and Music Residencies. This open call invites emerging and mid-career artists and musicians working across disciplines to apply for a unique opportunity in Brooklyn, NY.
Selected residents receive free studio space and full access to Pioneer Works’ interdisciplinary facilities, including wood and metal shops, audio-visual equipment, print labs, and more.
Residents engage with the public through events like Second Sundays, benefit from bimonthly studio visits by curators and peers, and join a growing alumni network of collaborators and educators.
We host 12 Visual Arts Residents and 12 Music Residents each year. The Visual Arts residency is 5 months, while the Music residency is 1 month.
ELIGIBILITY: The program accepts applications from artists working locally, nationally, or internationally. Please note, however, that Pioneer Works cannot provide assistance with housing, travel expenses, or visas. We do not sponsor international visa applications.
BENEFITS & HONORARIUM: We offer free studio space; free access to facilities and tools which include a risograph printer, darkroom, ceramics studio, large format printer, 3D printers, thermobinder, and laser cutter; biweekly studio visits with curators, gallerists, critics, and artists; and free access to public programs presented at Pioneer Works.
Visual Arts residents are provided with glass-enclosed public-facing studios and a $2,500 honorarium, while Music residents receive exclusive use of a professional recording studio for one month along with a $1,000 honorarium.
