Solitude Residential Fellowships 2026–2028

Eligibility: International artists and scientists can apply for a fellowship in the following spheres of practice: VISUAL (Fine Arts & Film/Video), AURAL & PHYSICAL (Music/Sound & Performing Arts), SPATIAL (Architecture & Design), TEXTUAL (Literature & Language), DIGITAL (New Media Art & Digital Art) and SCIENTIFIC (Humanities & Applied Sciences). The program is open to individuals with two to ten years of independent practice after completing their training, regardless of age. Collectives of up to two people may apply, provided they have been working together for at least two years. Not eligible are applicants still in training or studies (except for PhD candidates), as well as those holding a permanent professorship. Working languages are German and/or English (house language: English).

About the residency: Akademie Schloss Solitude is accepting applications for its residential fellowships for the period 2026–2028. International artists, researchers, and cultural professionals from all disciplines will have the opportunity to apply for a six- or nine-month fellowship.

What you get: The fellowship includes: a 6- or 9-month residency in Stuttgart, a monthly fellowship of €1,300, a furnished live/work studio incl. utilities, a one-time travel allowance for arrival and departure.

Designers in Residence 2026

Eligibility: Applicants must have completed studies at an university of applied sciences or university, must either not be older than 35 years or must have completed their studies not longer than two years ago.

About the residency: “Designers in Residence” invites young international designers to Pforzheim.

What you get: Three applicants will be selected. The scholarship includes use of fully equipped workshop and coworking workplaces in the EMMA Creati- ve Center in Pforzheim and free accommodation for the period of three months. As required, it will also be possible to use the workshop facilities of the Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences. In addition, each scholarship holder will receive a monthly support of 1,000 euros together with travel costs for the journey from and back to home. A special allowance will be made available for material costs. During the scholarship, there is the opportunity to network and exchange ideas with the jury and professors at Pforzheim University. The results of the scholarship will be presented in an exhibition at the EMMA Creative Center in Pforzheim. Those accepting the scholarship are required to be in residence. The scholarship holder may only be absent for a maximum of 10 days. The period of residence in Pforzheim is from April 1 to June 30, 2026.

Indigo Mentorship Residency Program

About the residency: The Mentorship Residency Program at Indigo Arts Alliance in Portland, Maine, brings together artists from diverse backgrounds of the African Diaspora to engage in their creative processes while building lasting relationships rooted in co-mentorship. The program pairs a National or International artist with a Local/Regional artist to foster rich conversations, collaborations, and exchanges of experiences, knowledge, and technical skills. Artists are encouraged to work independently but are expected to dedicate 8–10 hours weekly to joint activities, including community engagement and collaborative projects. The residency provides 24-hour access to a flexible 3,000-square-foot community studio equipped for various disciplines. Visiting Artists are provided with private housing within walking distance of the studio.

Artist Eligibility:

• The participating artists in our Mentorship Program serve as either Visiting Artist or a Local Artist. To learn more please visit our FAQ page. The eligibility for both artists are listed below:

• Artists must be a descendent from any of the African nations, African-American, Afro-Latin, Caribbean, i.e., the communities inhabiting the geographic breadth of all the places where Africans were displaced as a result of the transatlantic slave trade, Native Americans, indigenous peoples, Latinx, Southeast Asian/Indian African Ocean World, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim.

• Residents should have 2+ years of exhibition and/or studio experience.

• Artists must present a sustained commitment to their practice, risk-taking, and clear concepts and creative methodologies that advance artistic expression.

• Artists must demonstrate a relationship with the communities in which they live, work, or care about.

• Applicants must be 21+ at the time of the proposed residency.

• Artists of all disciplines are encouraged (Painting, sculpture, illustration, writing, dance, music, theater/performance, photography, fiber/textiles, etc).

• Applicants cannot be enrolled in a full-time academic program at the time of the residency.

• If artists maintain a full time job, they must plan their work schedules to accommodate a minimum of 75% time in the studio during residency.

Hambidge Center’ Artist Residencies

Deadline: Recurring  April 15, September 15, January 15 – The Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences provides a residency program that empowers talented artists to explore, develop, and express their creative voices.

Submission Fee: $30 Application Fee

Situated on 600 acres in the mountains of north Georgia, Hambidge is a sanctuary of time and space that inspires artists working in a broad range of disciplines to create works of the highest caliber.

Eligibility: Qualified applicants must be working at a professional level in their field. We seek applications from emerging and mid-career creatives, as well as from those who are established with national and/or international reputations.

Applications for residency are judged primarily on the quality of submitted work samples and professional promise. Hambidge accepts approximately 170 artists each year. There are no publication, exhibition, or performance requirements contingent on a Hambidge residency.

The Hambidge Center encourages creative professionals of all backgrounds to apply for admission. We celebrate varied ideas, world views, and personal characteristics, and are committed to being an organization that welcomes and respects everyone regardless of age, ability, ethnicity, race, religion, philosophical or political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, nationality, geographic origin, and socioeconomic status.

WHEN
Hambidge’s Residency Program opens mid-February and closes mid-to late-December through the month of January. Application deadlines are:

• Apply from March 1 through April 15 for the FALL SESSION (September through December).

• Apply from August 1 through September 15 for the SPRING SESSION of the following year (mid-February through May).

• Apply from December 1 through January 15 for the SUMMER SESSION (June through August).

Hambidge is closed from mid-December to mid-February.

FEES & FELLOWSHIPS
The actual cost of a residency is $2250/wk. Every year, the Hambidge Center raises funds to supplement $1950 for every residency week, leaving each resident with only the $250/wk fee.

Hambidge offers several merit-based Distinguished Fellowships which remove the fees for a two-week residency and provide a $700 stipend. Available Distinguished Fellowships vary from session to session and are listed in the Awards & Financial Assistance section of each session’s application. STUDIOS
Hambidge has 9 secluded cottage/studios which provide living and working space, feature great views, lots of privacy, kitchens and bathrooms.

MEALS
Resident Fellows gather each evening Tuesday through Friday in Lucinda’s Rock House for delicious vegetarian fare prepared by our talented chef.

SETTING
Hambidge is located on 600 pristine acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains featuring nature trails, meadows, waterfalls, a swimming hole, an abundance of wild flowers and crisp, clean mountain air.

Feminist Creative Residency, Centre Pompadour

About the residency: CP promotes artistic, creative, scientific work and research projects in the fields of feminism and gender studies and a lotta fun.

CP welcomes like-minded creative professionals from all over the world to work on individual or collaborative projects that place feminist empowerment and gender equality at the heart of the creative process and outreach. CP offers accommodation and private work spaces for a determined period of time.

Eligibility:

Individual Creative and Reading Residencies: To qualify for an individual creative or reading residency you have to be a creative professional or do research in any field with a feminist topic. We accept individual feminist residency proposals of minimum 2 weeks and maximum 2 months.

Collaborative Research Retreats: For a collaborative research retreat (for institutions or teams)in any field with a feminist topic of minimum one week please send us a detailed proposal. Our capacity of 5 double bed rooms and 2 individual rooms (all with private bath rooms) can welcome up to 12 feminist researchers. (For a collaborative research retreat we accept a minimum of 6 participants)

Institutional Partnerships: For a study retreat (art, literature, feminist, or gender studies) organized by an educational institution of minimum 3 weeks for teachers and students with their own work program please send us a detailed proposal. Our capacity of 5 double bed rooms and 2 individual rooms (all with private bath rooms) can welcome up to 12 students and 2 teachers

Fees: Please note that we are a non-for-profit organization, and that our feminist facilitators are volunteers.

The residency fee per person and per week (for a room with private bathroom, linens and towels, wifi, breakfast Monday to Friday and 1 weekly vegetarian château dinner included, bikes, shared studio space and transportation to and from the train station in Abbeville) is 600€.

Should you wish to travel with a friend and share a room, the residency fee for 2 feminists in one room is 800€ per week (in one room with private bathroom, linens and towels, wifi, breakfast Monday to Friday and 1 weekly vegetarian château dinner included, bikes, shared studio space and transportation to and from the train station in Abbeville).

Should you wish to travel with 2 friends and share a room, we can offer the attic loft, with its private bathroom. the residency fee for 3 feminists in the attic loft (linens and towels, wifi, breakfast monday to friday and 1 weekly vegetarian château dinner included, bikes, shared studio space and transportation to and from the train station in Abbeville) is 1000€.

If you should be accepted as a resident at CENTRE POMPADOUR and travel on a stately/private or educational grant, we are happy to provide you with an official acceptance letter if needed.

Willowtail is a unique property, offering one – three week residencies that have a special appeal to artists. Sixty acres tucked away in the high, alpine desert of the Four Corners Region writers come to begin or work on novels, poems, memoirs, screenplays, musicians practice, compose and rehearse, visual artists paint, draw, sculpt, and photograph. However, the best quality of Willowtail Springs Nature Preserve and Education Center is its ability to offer a quiet inspiring space to reflect, research, experiment, explore, laugh and create, easily, intensely.

Residencies are of variable length and include a private apartment at the mansion, co-working and/or dedicated workspace, shop access (laser cutter, 3D printer etc), a $1k monthly stipend and a budget for materials.

Residents become part of Stochastic’s creative community, participating in weekly dinners and invitation events. Residents may apply as individuals or as teams.
