Eligibility:
Open to professional visual artists (21+) working in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video, digital media, and installation.
Not open to performance art, writing, music, or production crafts.
About the Residency: Known as the “Gift of Time,” the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program (RAiR) provides six visual artists with a year-long residency in Roswell, New Mexico to focus solely on their creative practice. The program is not project-based and encourages deep artistic exploration in a solitary and self-directed environment.
Residency Details:
Duration: 1 year (staggered start dates between January 1 – August 1, 2026).
Solo Exhibition: Optional exhibition at the Roswell Museum toward the end of the residency.
Permanent Collection: Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art (AMoCA) may purchase one work from each fellow for their collection.
Support Provided:
Stipend: $1,100/month + $250/month materials stipend (additional $100/month for a partner or each child).
Housing: Private fully furnished house (suitable for individuals or families).
Studio: 30’ x 25’ x 10’ open space studio.
Facilities: Access to printmaking, digital media, woodworking, welding, and ceramics studios.
Utilities: Covered (except telephone).
