Residency Program in Namibia for Artists from Baden-Württemberg

Eligibility: Individuals of all ages may apply for the fellowship (no enrolled students). Good English skills are necessary. We especially welcome applications by Black, Indigenous or People of Color. As well as persons with an international biography, in particular persons of African descent living in Baden-Württemberg.
About the residency: Akademie Schloss Solitude, the National Art Gallery of Namibia, and Goethe-Institut Namibia continue their residency program fostering cultural exchange between Namibia and Baden-Württemberg. In 2026, two artists from Baden-Württemberg will receive 6-month fellowships (February–July) in Namibia. The program includes public events like readings, exhibitions, and workshops, and supports engagement with local cultural communities. Artists from all disciplines—visual and performing arts, music, design, literature, and art education—are invited to apply with projects of their choice.
What you get: A free, furnished living/working studio including electricity, water and heating • A monthly fellowship grant of € 1,300 • Travel expenses for arrival and departure (on a one-time basis) • Project funding and one-off materials subsidy of € 2,000 • Visa costs • Health insurance
