• Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Sculpture

• Location: Puebla, Mexico

Program Overview: This unique residency offers artists an opportunity to engage deeply with traditional ceramics techniques rooted in Puebla’s historical and cultural legacy. Hosted at Arquetopia or a partnered studio in Cholula, the residency emphasizes non-instructional, hands-on production under mentorship and supervision by skilled local master ceramists.

Participants will work with handmade processes according to Puebla’s colonial Talavera ordinances, avoiding industrial chemicals in clays and glazes. In addition to supervised technique guidance, the program includes:

• Personalized research assistance and resources.

• Project critique and guidance from the directorial and curatorial team.

• Access to specialized facilities tailored to traditional ceramics production.

This program provides a rich environment for artists to produce unique works while exploring and preserving the heritage of pre-Columbian and colonial ceramics.
