Hartnell College Art Gallery Call for Solo/Group Exhibitions

About the call: The Hartnell College Art Gallery is now accepting proposals for a featured exhibition during the Fall 2025 semester. The selected exhibition will run for approximately 6 weeks, from October 20 through November 28, and include a public reception and optional artist talk.
ELIGIBILITY: All artists are encouraged to apply, including international artists. Artists not selected for this exhibition will be considered for future opportunities in the 2026–2027 academic year. We especially welcome submissions from artists based in Salinas and the greater Monterey County, and/or those whose work explores themes connected to the Salinas Valley—its identity, people, history, or landscape.
We welcome proposals in all media, including: Photography, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Installation, Video, New Genres, Interdisciplinary Work. Proposals may be for: Solo exhibitions; Group shows; Curated exhibitions.
BENEFITS
We offer the following support for selected exhibitions:
Artist stipend: $2,000–$4,000 (depending on budget)
Shipping stipend: up to $1,000
Professional marketing: postcards, posters, social media, signage
Exhibition design support: lighting, labels, layout
Catered opening reception (covered by the gallery)
The gallery cannot provide insurance for the work in transit
SUBMISSIONS
All submissions must be sent via email (max 10MB, ZIP file preferred). Please include the following materials:
10–20 digital images (JPEG, max 1MB each) (Optional) One installation view OR link to time-based media
1-page proposal statement (overview of your concept and format)
1-page artist statement (per participating artist, if group show)
Image list (title, medium, dimensions, year)
Resume or CV (per artist)
