This is the first commission of its kind for Zenjob, who are excited to commission an emerging artist, creator, illustrator, or muralist for this project, thereby creating something memorable for the company and its team while supporting the creator's professional career in the arts.

Deadline: March 15, 2025

Deadline: March 15, 2025

Submission Fee: Free

Eligibility: You’re welcome to apply wherever you live or work, as long as you’re happy to deliver the work to Zenjob’s headquarters in Berlin at your own cost. Berlin-based artists may for that reason get prioritised. The commission paid is supposed to cover your time, insurance, material, and any travel and/or studio cost associated with the work. So if you think you can produce the work and deliver it/install it in Berlin even as an out of towner, you are absolutely welcome to apply. The commission is primarily for early career artists or artists who haven’t been commissioned with. If you haven’t received a new commission within the last year, you are also welcome to apply.

About the call: Zenjob, in partnership with ArtRabbit, is looking to commission a new artwork that embodies the company's history, mission, and ethos, to be installed at their headquarters in Berlin. This is the first commission of its kind for Zenjob, who are excited to commission an emerging artist, creator, illustrator, or muralist for this project, thereby creating something memorable for the company and its team while supporting the creator's professional career in the arts.

For this commission, broadly titled "History Wall," the theme is deeply linked to the company's history, ethos, and mission. Source material about Zenjob is available via links below to enable research and inform your proposal/sketch. The style is entirely up to you; the team is open to any creative direction that can visually express their history and mission, from collage to comic, illustration to fully representative art, whether painted onsite or as a triptych. We welcome your suggestions.

Commission Specifications:

Objective

The artwork should creatively represent the timeline and key achievements of Zenjob, integrating elements that reflect the company’s ethos and spirit. The work can be a mural, illustration, comic strip, collage, mixed media, the team is open to your ideas.

Production and Installation Requirements

  • Artists are encouraged to propose innovative approaches and concepts that align with the brief. You are encouraged to bring the brief to life as you see fit. However, the following installation requirements are important to consider:

  • The wall on which your work will be installed is 1.60 m high and about 8 m long.

  • The work will be placed in the lobby of Zenjob headquarters, which is a workplace. This should be considered when planning the installation, especially if you are proposing the creation of a mural or wall art that is to be applied onsite. Please provide details about your production and installation process and/or requirements.

What you get: EUR 4,000 art commission to cover artist fees, materials, and all direct costs associated with the commission. Your work will then be installed in Zenjob's headquarters in Berlin, and will remain in private collection.

The completed artwork will be owned by Zenjob. However, the artist retains the right to display the work in their portfolio and for promotional purposes.

Central Oregon, widely known for its stunning mountains, rivers, pine forests and recreational opportunities, will now be home to a new 100,000 square foot library in east Bend known as Stevens Ranch, a new branch library in Redmond and completely renovated and renewed libraries in the communities of La Pine, Sunriver and Sisters and in historic downtown Bend. The project is funded by a voter approved bond measure. 1% of the brick and mortar costs are reserved for the purchase of art.

Budget: The renovation and new construction of all the branches is scheduled to conclude spring of 2027. Budgets for art per branch range from $30,000 to $900,000 for a total project budget for art of just under $1.5 million for the county wide library system. A fundraising campaign will nearly match the amount funded by the 1% program.

The Art Committee will make recommendations to the library administration for final approval.

VISION: Deschutes Public Library Art Collection - Diverse, Inclusive and Inspirational

The renovations and new construction throughout the entire library district bring the opportunity for the district to build a new art collection. Art in all six Deschutes Public Library branches will be diverse in both concept and material. Works will be traditional and non-traditional and possess a lasting endurance. The DPL Art Committee seeks works in all media and genres: Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Glass, Fiber, Functional, Digital, Photography, Installation, Mixed Media, New media/genres. Suspended from ceilings, mounted on walls, embedded in floors, anchoring a public space, works will exist in both expected and unexpected places within the building and on library grounds.

First: Build a roster of qualifying artists from Western states for consideration across all branches.

Second: Invite artists who have pre-qualified by inclusion in the roster to submit proposals for specific artwork commissions in one or more library branches.

Finalists will receive up to a $1,000 honorarium for a written proposal, online presentation and digital rendering of the proposed artwork. Finalists wishing to visit the area may, on a case-by-case basis, be offered an additional stipend to offset travel expenses.

About the call:

We publish an ever-expanding collection of original works from lesser known and up-and-coming writers AND ARTISTS who seek to bring attention to urgent social justice issues around the world. We base our work on the values of beauty, sincerity, vulnerability, engagement and celebration of diversity. HRAM Publishes has presented work from 50 countries and 30 U.S. States.

We will be focusing on the following concerns:

FIRST AND FOURTH QUARTER: VOICE OF A REFUGEE: RESILIENCE AMIDST DISPLACEMENT.
According to the UNHCR, 117.2 million people will be forcibly displaced or stateless in 2023 — this is up nearly 100% in the past decade, and the most in recorded history. This issue will drive our literary magazine, bookending our publication year.

We are eager to publish firsthand experiences and factual, sensitive retellings of refugee experiences. We are not looking to publish fictional interpretations of the refugee experience at this time.

Themes: Journey, survival, identity, belonging, loss and resilience, hope, community, solidarity, cultural preservation, chosen family and blood relation, integration into new cultures, intersectionality, and global perspective.

SECOND QUARTER: FEMININE EMPOWERMENT.
Though women comprise more than 50% of the world's population, they only own 1% of the world's wealth. In some places, women still lack rights to own land or to inherit property, obtain access to credit, earn income, or to move up in their workplace, free from job discrimination. In legislatures around the world, women are outnumbered 4 to 1.

We are eager to publish firsthand experiences by women, factual retellings of stories told by women in the author's life, and reflections of the writer's personal experience with gendered inequality. We encourage submissions from, regardless of gender identity!

Almost 60% of youth between the ages of about 15 and 17 are not in school.

We are eager to publish firsthand accounts from African Youth writers, reflections by adult writers on their youth experiences, and firsthand accounts from childhood educators, and factual retellings.
