Modern Painters, New Decorators: Exhibition Opportunity
Modern Painters, New Decorators are pleased to invite proposals from artists, based in the UK, from Africa or the African Diaspora for an exhibition commission. This is an opportunity for an artist to realise a project with the support of Modern Painters, New Decorators as part of our new exhibition programme focusing on folk cultures and ecology. The project will be the very first exhibition presented in our new gallery space and arts venue in Loughborough, East Midlands, opening in September 2025.

What you get: The successful proposal will receive: £1,500 artists fee Up to £1,000 for production and other costs related to making the project including materials, fabrication, travel, accommodation and transport. Curatorial and installation support from the Modern Painters, New Decorators team. Marketing, documentation and additional wrap-around administration. An interview published with Young Artists in Conversation.
John Moores Painting Prize 2025 Call for Entries open now
John Moores Painting Prize 2025 is open to all UK artists – the undiscovered, emerging or established – working with paint. JMPP25 is judged anonymously by a jury of art world and creative industry figures. They will select the prize-winners and the exhibiting works in the JMPP25 exhibition at Walker Art Gallery, which opens in September 2025.

Eligibility: John Moores Painting Prize 2025 is open to artists – working with paint - aged 18 years or above, who live in the UK or are UK-based (this includes England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. It does not include the Republic of Ireland).

What you get: If selected, artists will exhibit in the JMPP25 exhibition at Walker Art Gallery, which opens in September 2025, plus an exhibition fee. Additional prizes awarded include:
First Prize: £25,000 and a solo exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool
Lady Grantchester Prize: £5,000, £2,500 in Winsor & Newton art materials, and a month-long residency in London
Visitor's Choice (selected by visitors to the exhibition): £2,025
