About the call: Artangel Open is an open call for new ideas. Over the past two decades, Artangel has invited artists to share ambitious ideas through a number of open calls. The resulting commissions have been ground-breaking with works in performance, film, installation, audio and digital mediums being presented in unexpected places in the UK including under a mountain in Scotland and a quarried island off the Dorset coast, to name a few.
The Open returns in 2025 and invites artists based anywhere in the world to submit their most daring idea. Your idea could manifest in the UK, internationally or online.
What you get: Shortlisted artists will be contacted in July 2025 to arrange an interview for September 2025. Each shortlisted idea / artist will receive a fee of £2000 to work up their proposal in time for the interview with the panel in September. Following the interviews, the Artangel team will further explore the feasibility of the shortlisted ideas and an announcement will be made in January 2026 confirming the forthcoming commission(s).
