The Arts Council Korea (ARKO) Residency Program
The Arts Council Korea (ARKO) has launched a new International Art Studio program for 2025 to promote global artistic activity and cultural exchange.
The program will not only provide a platform for domestic and international visual artists to create and research, but also serve as a space to expand contemporary artistic discourse. We look forward to receiving applications from talented artists to share their creative vision and explore new possibilities.
About ARKO Art Studio Program
Residency Venue : ARKO Art Studio (5, Pyeongchang 31-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea)
Facilities
Private Studio (44~60㎡, Wireless Internet available), Shared Bathroom, Community Room, Outdoor Performance Space, Academy Hall

Residency Period : Please apply for only one term
1st term : May 2025–September 2025 (5 Artists)
2nd term : September 2025–January 2026 (5 Artists)
* Residency in Seoul during and participation in Korea Art Festival (the first week of September) is mandatory for artists in both terms.
Number of Artists : 10 artists in total / 5 artists per term
※ Artists of all nationalities are eligible to applyMain Programs : Engagement with K-culture, presentation of one’s work, curatorial mentoring, open studio, participation in art fair, culminating exhibition at ARKO (reporting the International Art Studio performance), etc.
Benefits
International artists : Private studio (free of charge), accommodation (660 USD per month), round-trip airfare (up to 1,300 USD), stipend (330 USD per month), and production support (330 USD per month)
Domestic artists : Private studio (free of charge), production support (500,000 KRW per month)
Responsibilities of applicants

Eligibility
Only individual applicants will be considered; teams and collective are not eligible
Applicants must be under 40 years old and have been working in the field of visual arts for at least 3 years
Applicants must be eligible and able to obtain a visa to reside in Korea (minimum stay 3 months)
Applicants must be fluent in English

2. Proposal Statement for the residency program (500 words maximum length) – Free format (*.pdf)
3. Portfolio
Select from up to 10 image files (*.jpg, *.pdf), or one video file (*.avi, *.mp4 / up to 5 minutes)
* Submit with digital file (images of artwork, video, introduction of artwork, etc.)
4. CV –Free format (*.pdf)
Include exhibitions, projects, residency, awards, and education history

Submitted materials will be deleted after the selection process is complete.

Applicants will be notified of result by Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 15:00 (KST)
