The Dexter Jones Award

Eligibility: Applicants must have been born between 1984 – 2006. Applicants must be citizens of or residents in the United States with a social security number.

About the call: The National Sculpture Society is now accepting applications for The Dexter Jones Award of $5,000. The use of figurative or realist sculpture or sculpture that is inspired by nature, is of greatest interest.

The jury will determine the recipient based on an outstanding work of sculpture in bas-relief.

NSS welcomes applications from all sculptors regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, socioeconomic status, education or disability.

  • Sculptors may submit images of 6 to 12 different works (up to 2 views each – maximum of 24 images total). Entries must include an image of at least one work in bas-relief.

  • Sculptors should include a brief resume

Named in honor of Dexter Jones (1926-1986), a Fellow of NSS, the award was first presented in 2001. In addition to being an accomplished sculptor of portraits and works in the round, Jones created several outstanding bas-reliefs in his lifetime.
