Yahoo News: Gender Equality in NFT Art
When it comes to NFT art, most of the attention—and most of the sales—are going to male creators. A study by research agency Art Tactic from November found that as much as 77% of all NFT art sales go to men. In an effort to change this stark disparity, NFT marketplace MakersPlace partnered with Excedrin, by the British health care company Haleon, to start Equal Bytes, an accelerator program focused on women artists in Web3. A minimum of 100 artists will be accepted and receive guaranteed bids of around $800 (with gas fees covered) for an artwork they create. Applications for the program are open until Nov. 2

How Women Are Using Art to Reclaim Their Bodies
On 3 May 2022, London’s Goodman Gallery held a private view for the artist Ghada Amer’s exhibition “My Body My Choice”. That title was bitterly prescient. Earlier that day, a draft was leaked of a US Supreme Court ruling, showing that Roe v Wade – the landmark 1973 decision conferring the right to abortion – was on the verge of being reversed.

ArtTactic Reports: Women Artists Report – Young Women Artists Challenge the Status Quo
We are delighted to launch our inaugural report on women artists in the Post-War and Contemporary auction market. As much as the report sheds light on frequently reported gender inequalities in the auction market, our findings also highlight encouraging signs that the market is changing. Over the last two years, we have seen more women artists represented in global auctions, which has resulted in higher auction sales and more women artists featuring in the Top 100 artists. This year, Ultra-Contemporary women artists under the age of 30, accounted for more than two-thirds of auction sales for this age category, which could signal that change is also generational.

The Female Gaze: Women Artists on the Male and Female Form
How old is the male gaze? The term, which was coined by the British art critic John Berger in 1972 - and popularized by the film critic Laura Mulvey soon after - marks a half century this year. However, male objectification of female forms in art is, we can safely assert, a little more ancient. The female gaze, as both a concept, and a force within visual culture, is newer, and, perhaps consequently, far more vital. In these works, women artists give agency to female figures, and offer a different view of male subjects. If the works on your wall are showing a little gender bias, we thoroughly recommend you consider adding a few of these beautiful, valuable pieces.

Feminist artist Suzanne Lacy on the possibilities of activism and public service in the art world
The Los Angeles-based artist Suzanne Lacy has operated largely outside the confines of the art world and within the public sphere for most of her five-decade career. From the 1970s onward, as an exponent of the feminist consciousness-raising circles of Judy Chicago and the Happenings of Alan Kaprow, she developed a social practice that reconfigured the parameters of performance art, centering her work on large-scale, long-term community projects focused on themes of violence against women, poverty, racism and more.

Women Artists Are Painting Fresh Visions of Sex with a Surrealistic Twist
When describing the main conduits of the human subconscious, psychoanalyst Sabina Spielrein determined in her 1912 essay “Destruction as the Cause of Coming into Being” that mankind’s drive can be condensed to two points—sex and death. While Spielrein’s analysis might not be a truism for everyone, its accuracy can be seen in 20th- and 21st-century art influenced by the subconscious, specifically in Surrealism.
